Help & Support
Questions, answered
Everything you need to know about using our free patterns. Still stuck? Email us.
Are the patterns really free?
Yes — every pattern on HowTo Amigurumi is completely free to read, follow and print. No paywalls, no sign-up required. If you'd like new patterns in your inbox you can subscribe, but it's entirely optional.
Do I need to be experienced to use these patterns?
Not at all. Patterns are labelled Beginner Friendly, Intermediate or Advanced, and each one writes out every round in full with its stitch count — so even brand-new crocheters can follow along. Start with a Beginner Friendly make and work up from there.
What do the abbreviations mean?
Every pattern lists the abbreviations it uses (sc = single crochet, inc = increase, dec = decrease, MR = magic ring, and so on) right alongside the instructions, so you never have to guess.
Can I sell what I make from your patterns?
Yes — you're welcome to sell finished items you make from our free patterns. We just ask that you credit HowTo Amigurumi when you share or list them. Please don't resell or redistribute the pattern text itself.
Can I print a pattern or save it for offline use?
Absolutely. Use the Print button on any pattern page for a clean, printer-friendly version, or simply save the page — everything you need is on a single page, no internet required while you crochet.
My stitch count is off — what should I do?
First, re-read the round and check your start-of-round marker. Our counts are tested, so a mismatch usually means a missed or doubled stitch. Each pattern also has a Common Mistakes section with the fixes for the trickiest spots.
